Walmart is working on strengthening the development of its supply chain ecosystem in India to accelerate its export target. Walmart had launched its supplier development program Vriddhi, a year ago, aiming to bring export skills and knowledge to Indian MSMEs to prepare them to succeed as suppliers to Walmart and other companies in India, and around the world. Their goal is to empower 50,000 MSMEs to Make in India for domestic and global supply chains in five years.

According to Doug McMillon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Walmart Inc. Indian suppliers have a huge potential to grow their businesses by leveraging the unique scale and global distribution opportunities provided by Walmart. Walmart is working on accelerating its annual Indian exports in the coming years and is also supporting the Make in India initiative, thus helping more local businesses to go global, while creating jobs and prosperity in India.
