According to the Finance Ministry on Friday, as of December 4, the loans sanctioned under the 100% Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) crossed the ₹2-lakh crore mark and touched ₹2,05,563 crore.

Along with outstanding credit of up to ₹30 crores under the ₹3-lakh crore collateral-free guaranteed loans for businesses that included the MSMEs, the Centre has also extended a 100% guarantee for 20% extra credit to MSMEs, Mudra borrowers, and individual loans for business purposes. On August 4 these guidelines were amended to include individual loans for business and to enhance loan outstanding to ₹50 crores and the annual turnover ceiling to ₹250 crores. In the first supplementary demand for grants for 2020-21, a budgetary provision of ₹4,000 crores was made for the ECLGS scheme. The ECLGS scheme was extended through ECLGS 2.0 as part of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan 3.0, to target the 26 stress sectors and the healthcare sector with credit outstanding of above ₹50 crores and up to ₹500 crores. At least 45 lakh MSMEs are known to have benefitted from this scheme.

According to a tweet made by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), of the ₹2.05-lakh crore loan sanctioned, as much as ₹1,58,626 crore has been disbursed. Loans have been sanctioned for 80,93,491 accounts, disbursal has been made for 40,49,489 accounts. The entire ECLGS scheme (comprising of ECLGS 1.0 and ECLGS 2.0) is valid till March 31 2021.
